Here's an example of a YouTube video I made to help people get better at the video game I play, called Apex Legends:
VIDEO
Name: Alexander Shepherd
My name is Alexander Shepherd, and I am a Junior at UCF taking this class as part of my requirements for a degree in Information Technology. My dream job is to stream/create content for a living, or be involved in competitive eSports, however I am currently in college to acquire a skillset that will allow me to get a job in a field related to computers and technology, which are also passions of mine.
Hobbies/About Me:
My hobbies include primarily gaming and content creation, which I talk about in the middle of this page in more depth. I also enjoy basketball, the only sport I ever got remotely close to being into growing up. I love interacting with new people and meeting new faces; I am very extroverted, but despite this I usually don't go many places on a day to day basis. I'm a pretty busy individual, working just one 8 hour shift away from full time, while balancing my full time college schedule, and pursuing my hobbies on my off time. It makes for a very full time slate, but I enjoy what I do and I try to balance my workload in a way that isn't too stressful for me.
My links, if you choose to check any of them out, are listed below. I make this content out of a passion for the video games that I play. Viewer discretion is advised.
What is Content Creation?
Content Creation involves creating what's known as shortform (short clips) or longform (longer videos, live broadcasting, compilations, etc.) content on social media platforms. The most popular longform content platforms are YouTube and Twitch currently. The most popular shortform platforms would be TikTok, Instagram, or even Twitter.
I also livestream my gameplay to viewers on Twitch.tv, where audience members can interact with me in real time and watch my gameplay as it happens. (Think of it like standing behind someone at an arcade while they're beating a world record, it's fun to watch)
I take the gameplay that I get and edit it to post to YouTube, where I frequently like to teach people how to get better at the video game I play (Apex Legends), as well as show off the cool matches I get to participate in.
I also edit some of my gameplay into short clips to post on other social medias, such as Instagram and TikTok, where people can discover my content through those platforms.
