MOMENT 37

Evo moment 37, otherwise known as "The Daigo Parry" has become the ubiquitous example of hype moments in fighting games. It is one of the earliest examples of a clip from a competitive fighting game tournament going viral. In the clip, the player on the right, Daigo Umehara, is playing as Ken, and his health has been reduced to a single point. If the opposing Chun-li (Justin Wong) manages to land a single blow on Ken, they win the round. Further, in Street Fighter: Third Strike, players take a small amount of damage even when blocking normally. Because of this, only way for Ken to survive is by performing a parry, which is done by pressing the correct direction within 1/10-1/6th of a second of an attack landing. Sensing an opportunity, Justin Wong unleashes Chun-li's Super Art, launching a flurry of 15 kicks. Daigo would successfully parry each of the 15 hits, responding perfectly with his own combo and Super Art, depleting Chun-li's health completely and winning the round.
