James Pringle

Hey, I'm a student at the University of Central Florida - currently studying Information Technology and Technical Communication. I got my GED through self-study, and an Associates Degree from Hillsborough Community College. My hobbies include gaming (both tabletop and video), studying interest areas (namely climate change, economics, and government), and reading fiction. I'm a senior at UCF, after changing my major from Digital Media. I work part time for a web development company called Junglemethod.

My long-term ambitions are to land a job in Information Technology, live in a major metro area like Atlanta or New Orleans, and travel the world. I've visited Europe a few times now, and I'd like to visit several countries in Asia, South America, and Africa once the pandemic ends. I've been politically active most of my adult life, volunteering with campaigns, donating to candidates, and closely following both local and national elections. I enjoy cooking, biking, and personal fitness in my spare time.

Gaming

I've been gaming since I was about eight years old. Some of my favorites include:

Studying Climate Change

One of my lifelong goals is to contribute to combatting climate change. Here are some fantastic resources for studying both the impact and the response to climate change:

5 Warmest Years Since 1880:

Rank Year Increase Over Average (°F)
1 2016 1.80
2 2020 1.76
3 2019 1.71
4 2015 1.67
5 2017 1.67

Data pulled from Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instrumental_temperature_record who drew their statistics from NOAA.

Reading

Reading and writing fiction has always been a favorite hobby of mine. My favorite series:

  1. Asimov's Foundation series
  2. Weber's Honor Harrington series
  3. J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings
